About five weeks ago, I finished my long awaited project, the Entrecard Credit Generator. The generator is a very simple script that helps Entrecard users drop 300 credits in little less than 5 minutes. Before my Generator, people had to click long lists of about 300 URLs in order to drop the 300 credits and get their own 300 credits, now people only have to click 30 buttons and they’ll get the 300 credits.
Since the Generator went public, I have gotten over 1,500 unique people come into my website using the Entrecard Credit Generator page, and more and more people come daily due to the fact that they use the Generator.
I didn’t pay a cent to make the Generator as I made it myself, but if I had payed someone to do it for me then it would have cost me just a little amount of money and the traffic alone would have been worth it.
About a week after the generator was released, I was e-mailed by a person asking me why I didn’t charge for access to the generator, he said that he would happily pay about $3 dollars to use it for a lifetime. I said that I didn’t want to charge because it was just a project to see how much publicity it would get, and apparently it’s doing very well because I get a lot of daily e-mails from people that want to appear in the generator.
Can you imagine if I started charging for access to it? I wouldn’t make much, but I’d still make some money and it would all be profit. You can basically do the same thing by paying someone to make you a plugin and you’d buy all the rights to the application and you’d be able to do as you please with it.
A great thing that you can currently do is to create wordpress plugins, I have seen the need for more plugins and more stable ones. The ones that I currently see lack support. You can also ask the maker of the plugin to hire you and you’ll be in charge of the support team, making you money.
What I’m trying to say in this article, is that if you have an idea or if you see a need for something then you should write it down and try to code it yourself, if you are not a programmer then you can hire a Rentacoder.com programmer and he can make you the application.
In conclusion, if you have an idea for a product make sure you exploit it. You might just be the next Bill Gates.

Giving away helpful scripts or plugins is always a good way to bring traffic to your site. Being able to do it yourself is obviously the best, but outsourcing can also be a good way to bring traffic as well.
