Mom, can I get a blog?
Carlocab, who calls himself the “KidBlogger” has had a lot of controversy around him on the fact that he is number 1 for the keyword “Make Money Online”. People claim that his popularity comes from the fact that he is 14 and announces it in every possible way he can, just to try and make you feel bad that you are not making as much money as he is. “If I can do it, you can too”.
The Articles
There have been recent articles written about him like the one written by Max Miroff of Bad Blogging and the one from The Spokane Factor.
The Study
Now as you can see, “Blog Badly” conducted a study about how the age of a writer affects the amount of readership a website gets. Upon reading his article, I decided to conduct my own study as I believe that the more answers that I get the better this question will clear up.
I started 4 different threads in 4 different websites, ewealth, seochat, entrecard, and mylot.
The reason of this study is to find out if the age of a blogger causes popularity simply from the fact that he is young, if that is the fact, then I suspect that this website will get a lot of readership as well considering that I am 14 as well.
The “Top 30 Young Bloggers under 21″
In my research, I have also found a list of the Top 30 Young Bloggers under 21, now I am not sure where the writer of that blog got his stupid amazing stats from but if you look at number 30, he has a PR 0, 102 Google Indexed pages, 0 Live search indexed pages, and has a rank of “1,50187,296″ if you check my blog’s rank, I could easily be number 30.
To extent the research of Young Bloggers, I discovered that there are many new people joining the large, and fast growing blogging industry. If there are more bloggers coming up daily, will that mean more competition, or will that mean that in the future the internet will be full of teens and adults lying about their age just to get more readers and more subscribers?
So looking at those sad stats, Will we be writing in the future how to hide your age better to get more traffic?
The Conclusion
It seems as if people don’t have a set opinion on whether age matters or not, its more of like a neutral answer. There are equal amounts of people who like young bloggers as there are people who don’t like them.
So it’s a love or hate situation. You can decide if you want to market your age, but do it quick because you won’t get any younger.
