PR Update… I give up.
So we all know PR is just crap, and it’s Google’s way to torture us webmasters… but this last update was just plain crap for this site.
If you look at other sites, for example Big Ben Patton’s place he only has 2800 backlinks, now if you look at my site I have over 7,200. We both got a PR 2 yet clearly I have way more backlinks.
Patton’s place is not the only site with a PR2 and low backlinks, many other sites have that same amount of backlinks and even have a PR3.
I know backlinks also differ in quality but I’ve checked the quality of the links and they are all the same. So I give up with Google, no more Optimizing for Google but rather for Yahoo or some other crappy search engine.
I’m gonna start doing some bum marketing and some guest posting in order to get traffic. Because Google just pissed me off for the last time. If you have been a reader of this blog for a long time you’ll notice that Google also banned me from their adsense service due to the fact that I was a “risk” to their advertisers.
So I guess I’ll join John Chow and stop worrying about Google.
Hey you too? Google banned me for that same reason, out of nowhere. Was pretty pissed. Doesn’t matter anyway, most of my income from my site comes from TextLinkAds ($45 a month, usually) and then about, $30-$40 from direct ads. Good enough for me.
By the way, where do you go to see how many backlinks you have?
Actually, I went into googling how to check pagerank, and found out how to do it via yahoo and google. SO I tested out this blog on yahoo here: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thegermz.com&bwm=i&bwmf=s&bwmo=&fr=yfp-t-501&fr2=seo-rd-se . This showed you had a ton of backlinks. I then checked your site in Google here: http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=Wbo&q=link%3Awww.thegermz.com&btnG=Search . This showed you had 21 backlinks, lmao. So yeah, maybe I did something wrong. Either that, or Google just sucks.
I’m guessing that’s why you got banned, for using TLA. Google hates TLA.

Also a PR1? That’s totally messed up. I swear, one of these days PETA is gonna find monkeys running the Google database.
Mine only became a PR2 also. Was hoping for more, but at least it is a start.
That sucks cause you got more backlinks than me and you are still a PR2.
I’m hoping it’s an error and Google will change it, but I won’t get my hopes up.
Don’t be too upset, there are a lot of factors that go into pagerank… not just backlinks. Besides, I’d rank your blog and Ben Patton’s in generally the same tier of things. It’s not a case of who has more backlinks, as you are both probably labeled the same.
I know that they gave me my PR4 again, but you need to look past linking and all that as I think it no longer applies. They clearly noticed a while ago that all of my posts exceed 750 words and everything is original and quality work, they do care about this.
Just keep your head up, you’ll get that PR3 in the next update guaranteed.
Germz here is writing quality articles almost daily here too, lol. I really don’t see why he’s not a better PR.
Anyway, you said you checked my site and I wasn’t banned. How’d you do that?
Stop worrying about pagerank its a useless tool anyway. Good quality unique content and good SEO is all you need to rank well in search engines.
Pagerank is only good for one thing and thats selling links which we all know Google hates.
@Jim: I’ll write quality content I just don’t care whether Google indexes or ranks it or not. I guess I’ll keep on writing more then.

not 2!!, and TheNetFool is right PR is nothing to get upset about, although it does help determine how much your tla ad’s are if you arent using these or going to flip your site It really isnt something to worry about. I actually have over 3200 back links 3 of which are PR7 that may be the difference , but as has been elaborated on millions of blogs in the last few days no one really knows how PR works.
PR is nothing, but to others (people who want to buy ads on your site, TLA, or people who want to BUY your site) it is. That’s the only reason I see it that people care.

Yes the recent PR has been strange. You know though that in the past Google has hidden the amount of true backlinks your site has. Yahoo is a better indicator of the real backlinks you have.
@Ben: Well I’m kind of upset cause it helps you increase your Ad prices but I shouldn’t be worried cause my ads are not even the %5 percent of my monthly revenue.

Keep your head up bro, getting 18 (and counting) comments on a post is a better indicator about the quality of a blog than page rank will ever be.
Also, how long did it take you to get approved for the Yahoo ad network (I applied a week ago and haven’t heard anything)

It took me about a Week in order to get the mail from Yahoo. Good luck applying just don’t lie on the application.

Me too got slapped by google.
I was slapped from 5 to zero and now it stable at 2 even I already get backlink. I’m stil adsenser and hope google not banned me since I need that for paying my younger sister college. I’m also using TLA and adbrite. I really need my http://video.persusi.org PR. It slapped from 4 to zero. I think because too much paid to review on it. My fault lazy to update recent day. Hueee so sad… From BV I dont get any GTB again. so is with SR and RM. hix hix want to cry.. I need try hard in my real teaching jobs for my younger sis. Ganbarimasho!

Are you aware of the Pagerank algorithm? Backlinks is certainly not the only factor that plays into Google deciding what your PR will be.
Google is not the only way to get money.

There are numerous ways to increase your website popularity and improve your SEO but increasing backlinks is probably the best
I think back links are less important . In my case i had only few back links but all were from related sites . I got shocked when i got got PR3 in first update .
I think you are little off the topic right now with politics and all .May this could be the reason..
