A website is nothing without visitors. If you think about it, without your visitors your Ads would be worthless, your sales would not exists, and your site would just be a completely unknown waste of digital space.

One can have the best content in the world but if there is no one to read it, then the content might as well not have been written at all.

There are plenty of ways to make your visitors feel welcome. Our favorite, is to attract them with a clean layout. Up until now this website has had about 6 different layouts, all pre-made by different people who give them out for free. Getting a pre-made layout is not good, Not good at all, because people tend to link your layout with your site so if they end up going to a website which has the exact same layout that you have, they are going to associate their site with your site.

One of the best things that a webmaster can have is branding. John Chow calls himself the “Evil” blogger, even though he donates a ton to charity. Shoe money.. well he’s got his flashy logo which he gives away on t-shirts. And we could go on and on with different bloggers who do this for a living.

Big companies have conducted research to see what attracts their customers and what makes them feel comfortable in a store. In this article you can see different tests conducted to see how color affects normal people in their every day life.

With the knowledge of color that you have acquired you can set your color preferences to attract your target market. If you want men to be your target market then you would want to use a shade of blue, but if you want women pink colors or yellow colors might do the trick.

Currently, we are developing a layout especially made for this blog, we have mailed some of our most active readers asking them for advice on what their favorite colors are and what kind of layout they would like. By polling the people that make this blog what it is, we can find out what colors will make the site more attractive to the future readers of the blog.

We are not the only site that polls their visitors on their preferences. Recently we purchased a pizza from Pizza Hut online. A day later we received a call from a representative who asked us some questions about what we thought of the user interface of their site and the use of colors in their site. So we told them they had a little too much red but other than that it was perfect.

You see, people want to be polled. When you poll a person, especially in something that they are interested in they’ll be more than happy to answer your questions because they know that in the end is going to make whatever it is they are interested in better, so in fact by polling you are not only making your site better but you are gaining strength with the loyalty of your readers.

Here are some of our favorite bloggers who use their own unique layout.

Forthelose.org- A beautifully designed website created by Ralph Damiano.
Thenetfool.com- Even though this layout is used by many other sites, Jim Regan managed to turn it into his own unique layout.
Johncow.com- This blogger began his website as a typo for Johnchow.com people who mistyped Johnchow would be sent to his site, John “Cow”. He brands himself with cows, usually a pasture. Previously having used a layout similar to thenetfool’s John Cow made some changes and made it sort of like a magazine theme.
MrJavo.com- Mr Javo, created a very clean layout for his make money online website. It uses shades of blue and white which as we previously said, appeal to male readers.

  1. Really nice article Germz, thanks for the link, too.

I laughed a little when I saw you bought a pizza online from Pizza Hut. It’s not out-of-this-world weird at all, I guess I just never thought about buying fast food online. Kinda funny.

  2. Lol well they had a coupon, saved me 10 bucks.

  3. Agreed on your article. Esthetic influence greatly viewers. I usually stands away from blogs that use grudgy / complex styles.

  4. @Will Thanks! I used to like grudgy styles but then I started going through a vector phase so all my designs had vectors.

  5. Nice article.

It seems that blue color works really great. And from my own so called “inspections” I have found that websites with blue layout have little bit higher conversion rates. Still need to research that deeper.

    Cheers.

  6. @Moneyac Definitely I base all of my landing pages on my target market

  7. I really enjoyed your article. Your first two sentences were really provocative and enticed me to read the rest. I also really like your clean layout and am fascinated by your picture of the couch. The only thing that bothers me a bit is your Vista Print ad. It competes with all the wonderful things you’ve done to your site.

  8. Thank you, I really appreciate that you liked it.
I’ll change the ad for one that looks better with the layout :) .

  9. Awesome! It looks much better without that other ad. Keep up the good work. You have a very nice site.
