No, this article is not about minerals. It’s about domain investing.
I recently misspelled “Google.com” and ended up writing “Google.cm” the page redirected me to Ebay which I found weird seeing as the word Google is nowhere near Ebay. After seeing that the “.cm” domain name worked I started searching on how to buy it and found out that it’s a domain name from Cameroon, Africa.
It currently costs about 700 Euros, almost $1500 dollars to register a domain, and in order to register the domain you must own a company in Cameroon registered to the name that you are going to buy.
I also found a funny thing about the .cm domains, everytime you type something completely random and add the “.cm” extension it will redirect you to http://agoga.com/.
This domain name will bring you great traffic seeing as many people often forget to type the “o” in “.com” there are currently not many websites with good domain names so you might want to start investing, that is if you have $1,500 burning your pocket.
I, on the other hand will stick to the $.99 .info domains.

Wow, that’s actually really interesting. I wonder why they’re so much money. I mean, it’s not like it’s a special country or anything. Or it might just be because of how close it is to the mispelling of com.

Yeah, Kevin Hamm is making $30 million or so off the .CM domain name redirection to ads.
Good for him! (I almost wrote “God for him!” — which I guess is very appropos.)
But be careful for some readers thinking of buying a .CM domain from some weird sites. Some are scams.
Some aren’t — but I haven’t ventured into buying one yet.

Funny, I was just looking into something similar this week.
I was shocked to find the prices so high! Why? It seems a little ridiculous to me…

As mentioned above, a lot of these .cm domains are now owned by what folks call Mr Internet, Kevin Ham. He has set up a company in Cameroon, with the help of the local government to buy most of these.cm domains. His parking company is called Agoga, and he makes a ton of money from it. For example, type in weddingshoes.com and you’ll be taken to a parked page from Agoga….
