The reason of this is because the domain that someone bought yesterday for $10 dollars, might be worth $30 dollars today if the owner added some good articles and a nice premade layout.

I have seen a lot of people still using Blogspot and Wordpress free hosting in the Entrecard site. This worries me because a lot of people might end up having issues trademarking their name or a certain logo in the future.
Having your own domain is better than having a free one because it allows you to have more control over the things displayed on your site, it also allows you to buy a certain word, or keyword.
