Invisible shield Review… what a scam.

Invisible shield

The ipod after I placed the Invisible shield.

Earlier today my long awaited Invisible Shield arrived, I hurried and followed the Installation instructions step by step checking my every move until I finally finished installing it.

When I was done with the installation, I left my ipod nano to dry for the 12 hours that they ask for anxiously waiting for the bubbles and the liquid to disappear. It’s been over 12 hours now and the liquid has become foamy and the bubbles have now united to become even bigger bubbles.

I expected this product to be much better. But it’s not the bubbles or the foam what bothers me what bothers me is the whole point of me in buying this product, “keeping my ipod scratch free”. So I tested out the product with a key and I gently stroked it and to my surprise there was a big scratch.

That’s the ipod dropped in a bucket of nails.

This is the ipod being scratched, with no “Visible” scratches.

The scratch really pissed me off because I spent 25 dollars buying this crappy product, when in Youtube they have this ipod and then they throw a frigging bucket of nails at it and the ipod remains intact. But when I go home and gently stroke it with a key it scratches.

I’m not sure if it’s my fault it scratched or if it’s just a faulty product because I’ve read countless of reviews for this product and they all sound good. So either they are all liars, or my product was faulty.

In any case, I won’t even use their lifetime guarantee because it costs about $4 dollars to have them send you a new product and it costs $4 dollars or even more for you to send it to them. That’s about $28 dollars on a useless piece of dust attracting plastic.

So here is a lesson I learned from this company, If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

EDIT- I just found bestskinsever. The ipod skin only costs 7 dollars, that means that if I buy it from them I’d be saving $1 dollar.
I also found this video which proves that the invisible shield is fake.

This is a free review and it is written on my sole and honest opinion and it’s based on my experience with the product.

Wow, that sucks. It seemed good in those videos, and you said you followed the instructions step by step, so, I dunno why it wouldn’t work unless it was faulty to begin with…

Yeah I’ve been trying to get it to work and nothing seems to happen it’s actually attracting a ton of dust, so now I have a scratched dusty ipod.
And it’s actually good, you can’t see the scratch from afar but in close range you can definitely see it.

Dude how long did it take you to put the plastic on? My friend has it on his ipod it works GREAT though he worked hard putting it on and making sure there was no bubbles even before he waited the 12 hours :) Sorry you had to go through this. I just got my iPod Touch yesterday, used the original screen protector and a rubber case working great so far :)

I thought that product was good.. thanks for the review anyway, i won’t buy it :p

@Eze: About 30 minutes. It’s been about 26 hours now and some of the bubbles are disapearing as well as the foam.

@ChiQ: You should get it if you want “Your ipod” intact, if you don’t care whether the skin gets scratched then get it. I don’t know why but it seems as if the scratch that I made yesterday got smaller.

I’ve used the invisible shield on 6 of my items, and I haven’t had a single scratch! Just send it back and they’ll send you a new one for free. The invisible shield does work, you just have to apply the spray it lightly on both sides. If you didn’t squeege it, that will cause the liquid to stay, and the shield to tear. I’ve also heard that it’s 24 hours, not 12. I’ve waited 24 on all of my items, and it’s working great.

I have bought several Invisible shield from Zagg.com all works great and looks very nice specially on my Macbook, MSI laptop & iPhone 3G.. I suggest we have to use some common sense and with intellect with the item we buy, 1st by knowing what type of material it’s made of and it’s obviously a plastic type of material.. when u make a scratch this type of plastic it surely will have a scratch line but after awhile it will be gone or less obvious.. the inside or unit itself will not be scratch! so it’s claim is quiet True, that your unit will not be scratched!! WORKS WELL with keys, phone inside my pocket while jogging!! As for installation that also we need to use technical common sense, Yes it’s kinda hard to install if you just stupidly follow the instructions, my tip is put a few drops inside the sprayer and a bowl of water beside you when installing.. wash your hands, clear all things on your desk and give some concentration when installing, alignment is the 1st step to make a perfect installation.. the Shampoo will allow you to make some adjustment in aligning the I.S. on your gadgets just like installing a Tint in your car..

    Thanks Eric sy

I would definitely say screen and keyboard are the most important buying decision for me as the specs are fairly standard across brands anyway.

Sounds familiar. I’ve heard both opinions on the shield. I wish I could see how they install it when it works well.

Sorry it didn’t work for you.

    Bummer.

    Hi guys,
earier today someone tired to scratch my iphone screen while playing tap tap revenge with him but i’m glad i have the shield on =D (such a bustard isn’t it? sour grape)
at first i saw a long scratch mark which seems to be left by scratching his sharp finger nails with huge forces on the screen (he quited the game half way and i noticed the mark later on).
of course i was worried so i removed the shield and checked for scratches immediately when i came home.
guess what? NO scratches on the device itselves. it is actually the shield that is being scratched and it can be solved easily by replacing a new shield if i do not wish to see the scratch mark again. now i have installed back the scratched shield to remind me the presence of such a bustard. very glad to know that my device is still fine… Sorry for my langugage :)
So guys & girls, get the shield.. it is really useful provided u have installed it properly. i had it on for about 3weeks before this incident happened. u will notice lots of bubbles & foam in the 1st 3days but they will eventually fade away and the shield will fix nicely against your device. in the mean time, i don’t think we should mess with your device like performing the ’sractching tolerence test’ as the shield is not yet settled and thus able to perform up to its capabilities. but 1 thing to note is that you might find it hard to put a casing ontop of your devices after installing the shield which is the only flaw i found.

    hope these help =D
