The only reason why Internet Explorer is used is because it comes installed with Windows XP and Windows Vista, if Internet Explorer was an open source service that you could download as you pleased, guess how many downloads it would have? None. The only people that use Internet Explorer are people that are way too lazy to go to their control panel and delete the useless program or people that are ‘scared’ that Firefox or any other browser contains malware or secret spying programs to steal your precious and valuable information and then sell it to people that commit identity fraud.
Today at my school I bypassed their download block system and managed to get my hands on the first Firefox 3 candidate release. The reason why I didn’t install it at home was because when you install the candidate it messes up all your previous Firefox plugins and my school still uses crappy Internet Explorer so none of their files would get messed up.
I tested the browser and it was amazing. The look is way much better than Internet Explorer’s and the loading time of the browser is almost 20 times faster. In the time that I tested the candidate I didn’t see any issues or problems with it, I was amazed that all the CSS from every web page that I visited worked perfectly unlike some of the Issues people have been having with the new version of the new Internet Explorer 8.
In other news, Firefox has planned a “Download day” which will be a day when Everyone is supposed to download the new version of Firefox 3 so that Firefox can win the Guinness World Record for Most Software Downloaded in 24 Hours. The date is planned to be by late June. There are thousands of people that have currently pledged to download Firefox on the given date and I’m going to pledge as well.
A problem that might be caused by “Download day” is the fact that Firefox is literally asking for a DOS attack. Since thousands of people will be logging on to the Firefox site at the same time it will cause a major problem with their servers and possibly end up crashing them.
Here is a tip for Steve Ballmer, how about buying Firefox for a much lower price instead of trying to buy Yahoo for billions of dollars?

I am FireFox junky and the only time I ever use IE is when I do a fresh install of Windows XP and use it to download Firefox.
I do think that IE does have its strong points. The only thing that really keeps me with Firefox is the plugins and its light and custom.
IE is a safe choice for most users. The older people get trained to use it in these computer schools for dummies so it is all they know. I do believe that IE would be used even if was not preinstalled… People only use what they know… change is scary.
IE is used in most of Windows anyway. I have only seen some programs that can fully remove it… But that is a waste of time.

Why the heck would Microsoft buy Mozilla? It’s a non-profit company and if they tried to put ads on it nobody would use it. I know you probably hate Microsoft, but the fact remains that they are technology gods and do a damn good job ensuring that their monopoly remains strong.
Mozilla is cool, and I use firefox, but really the new IE isn’t so bad. They have gotten into anti-trust laws and such by having internet explorer attached to windows, but if they can keep pushing it… more power to them!

Microsoft could start adding ads in firefox. Mozilla would still be free you’d just get ads everywhere. I hate IE, never liked it, never will.

The customizability and flexibility of Firefox makes it a clear winner.
Even the name Firefox is certainly cooler than Internet explorer!!
