Buying ads, the right way.
Introduction, Make the most out of your money
Have you ever bought ads from a fellow webmaster? Have you ever spent any money at all marketing your website? Do you want to make the most out of your ads? if your answer to any of those questions were yes, then you will find this article very interesting, as I talk about ways to promote your site properly.
Add more content!
Many webmasters find themselves in a tight corner when it comes to getting traffic to their website, and very often, they seek for more traffic in other websites from the same niche. But the thing that almost never changes is the fact that they don’t do anything new to the website, they keep it just as it was before and they add the same content daily. If you think that doing the same old stuff to your website will keep members coming, then I’m sorry to tell you this but you are Wrong!
People are inclined to liking new things, it’s not very often that you see a person wearing 1970s Leather pants, but it’s very often to see people wearing ripped jeans and sometimes even ripped shirts! If you would have lived in the 1970s and wore ripped jeans they would have called you a hobo.
Since people like new things, you have to publish new things for your site otherwise people will just leave and go back to their Myspace or whatever it is that is “Phat”(for all you old timers, “Phat = Cool”.) right now.
An easy way to get more readers is by adding daily fresh new content. If you publish an article daily, then try to add 2 articles daily at least for the time you bought the ad. Like I have said before, keep your content coming at a steady rate, don’t make a post daily and then stop posting for a week because that will drive your readers away.
Fresh new content tells your reader that you are an active writer, and it shows that you have experience with the things your blog is about. Look at it from this point of view, “If you see a blog and the owner doesn’t post daily but one day he makes a lot of posts and you really like them, you’ll stay with his site waiting for new content, but if he doesn’t post content for a long time, then you will just leave, thinking he is sick or that he doesn’t want to post anymore.”
Get good template for your website.
A good tip to get more visitors to stay in your website, is to keep your website looking good. Always visit other blogs to see what kind of layouts they are using, always remember to stay on the edge.
If you are like me, then you prefer visiting a website with a good looking professional layout rather than a website that looks as if it was made in 2 minutes by an unexperienced child.
Always remember to keep your layout updated, and if you are in need of a layout makeover then do it before buying ads, or else you might end up loosing possible readers.
Sponsor a contest
Do you like free? Well I do, and I am more than sure than tens of thousands of bloggers agree with me. If you want to make sure visitors to stay on your site, or if you want them to advertise your website for you then hold a contest!
If you are planning on sponsoring a contest, get at least $100. The reason why I say at least one hundred dollars, is because if you were to hold a contest for less it would not be as attractive as a whole round number. Of course, this is not a set standard, it’s just my opinion and it’s up to you whether you want to follow it or not.
Once you have decided on an amount of money or material prizes to use in the contest, then you can make a page on your website giving the details of the contest. When making the page remember not to make too many rules, and make sure that the rules are not too complicated or else your readers will not be as interested. Like a friend once told me, “People don’t read online, they skim.”
When you hold a contest and you need A good way to get people to advertise your site, then the best thing to do is to have a point system. For example, someone will get 2 points for each comment they post, they’ll get 300 points if they blog about the contest etc. The person or the people that get the most points win. The point of this is for readers to be more competitive and try to get as many points as they can. The more your website is advertised the more profit you earn.
Only hold contests if you are sure that your site is ready for mass traffic.
Where can I buy ads?
Now that you’ve read what to do before buying ads, here is the part where I tell you where you can find them.
There are many places where you can buy ads, If I had to recommend a place, I would suggest you do a Google search on your niche. Go to your competitor’s site and see if they sell ads, if they do then you can go ahead and buy from them.
When buying ads, you have to make sure the ads are placed in an easy to see spot, or else you will be wasting your money because people will not click on it. If the owner offers a 125×125 spot then I suggest you get that, or if they have a header ad then buy that one, but header ads are usually more expensive.
If you are really desperate to buy ads and don’t have enough money to buy an image ad, I recommend that you do not buy a text ad because those ads hardly get clicks as they are small and most websites that offer text ads usually offer a lot of ads so your ad will probably fade away in the sea of ads.
Always remember when buying ads to buy them in a blog that gets a lot of traffic, don’t go crazy and buy an ad in a certain website just because it’s cheap, as that website might only be getting a couple of hits a day.
Conclusion
If you are still not sure what to do before buying ads, Here are a few questions to ask yourself before spending your hard earned money into buying ads.
- Do you have fresh content?
- Is your layout good? Does it have any problems with any browsers?
- Do you have ads in your site placed in proper, easy to see spots?
- Is your Host ready to handle a lot of traffic?
- Are you ready to write fresh new content daily?
