Introduction
Many of us have 404 pages, I hate them, not only because they waste space but because they are bad for SEO.
If you check your site’s statisitcs, you will usually notice many hits on your 404 pages. I myself, have hundreds of them. This month I had over 322 hits on 404 pages, and the previous month I had over 1500+ of hits on my 404 pages. The problem with 404 pages is that you don’t profit from them. In this tutorial I will show you some ways that you can profit from your 404 pages.

Profiting From 404 Pages

1. Affiliate Marketing-
   If you have 404 pages, a great way to profit from them is to sign up with Affiliate programs. If a person visits the 404 page, instead of seeing the 404 and leaving, you can leave them a message saying

   “Hi, sorry for the inconvenience, the page you were looking for does not exist or it has been moved, If you want to visit our homepage click here, we also think that you might be interested in these programs, (Insert website here), and (Insert website here).”

   Now when a visitor finds that page, they will have the option to go to your homepage and/or sign up for your affiliate programs.
   If you want more attention, then you might want to add some images and pretty up the page to make it look like a normal page from your site.

2. Ads-
   If you have 404 pages, you can always add Ads there. People might be inclined on clicking them if there are no other links on your pages. Make sure you don’t spam your 404 pages as it just might want to make visitors leave rather than click on your Ads.
   If you put Ads on your page only leave 1 Ad, the reason of this is because it won’t make much of a difference if you have 3 Ads to 1, since you have no content or no other links on your 404 page, the user will have 2 choices, either leave your page, or click on the Ad, so it makes no difference how many ads you have, just don’t make your page look spammy.
3. Add PPC Text Ads-
   PPC Ads, are Ads that pay you each time someone clicks on them. If you add PPC Text/Image Ads it will maximize your earning potential. As I said before, when a visitor reaches a 404 page, he will have 2 choices, Go back to the page they came from or Click on any link that you have placed on your 404 page.

4. Link to your pages-
   Do you have any articles that you really like? If you you can make a list of your pages and link them on your 404 pages, so when people go on them they can simply click on the one that they like the most.
   If you want to follow this method then make sure they are good articles so your visitors will stay, rather than just leave from the Error page.
