Introduction

This is the last part of my SEO Tutorial series, I hope the last few Tutorials have helped improve your SEO skills. In this tutorial I will mostly cover stuff that you don’t have to do but are recommended you do.

Adding your site to social bookmarking sites

Like many of us, you must be tired to of submitting your site to different social bookmarking sites right?Well in this tutorial I will show you a GREAT way to submit a url to 22 different social bookmarking sites like the following:

First, you need to join and become a member of this website Onlywire, once you join you need to input your username and passwords for all of those sites, like this:

Once you input the passwords and usernames save them and then drag the links that they tell you to drag into your browser’s toolbar, and now, everytime you want to bookmark a website you simply click on that link and it will bookmark it for you.

Kick your competitors off the market

I only suggest you use this if you want to be evil because you can end up taking possible customers from your competitors, as this method is so good that it can end up making your competitors run out of bussiness.
To start things of you need to go to the Ad targeting Tool from Google. This method lets you see all the ads from your competitors, and by doing that you can see what adwords you can buy or what keywords you can use in order to compete with your competitor site.

Get More Visits & Backlinks

This method is great and I use it all the time. What I do is, I join go to google and search for certain forums that have keywords like mine. So once I find the forums that I like I join their forums using a great tool called “roboform” and it fills all the information to join a forum for me. The program is very easy to use and it’s free, you simply input your information once and save it and it fill forms for you. Here is a screen-shot I took.

Once you have a list of all the forums you want to join you open all of them in tabs and you click on their register buttons, once you do that you simply click the roboform button and it fills the register forms for you, all you do is enter the captcha and click enter, the rest just leave it to roboform.

Finally, once you have become a member of a forum go to their introductions forum and post something like “hi i’m (insert name here) i own www.thegermz.com why don’t you check it out and tell me what you think?” and then make some more posts around the forum but never be spammy or else you will just get banned from the forum and your site will gain a bad reputation for spamming. Always make insightful posts in forums.

Add a .ico

A .ico is a tiny small image (16px by 16px) that you see on the left side of almost every URL page that you visit. A .ico is a way to make your site look more professional and organized.
In order to add a .ico to your site you must have the proper program to create .ico images. There are many ways of creating .icos, you can either have a program that directly creates .ico or you can use an online program that makes .ico images for you. In this tutorial I’ll show you how to do it with the online version and the program version.

Online .ico converter

First create a .png image with any image program that you have, it doesn’t matter if you use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, just make a .png image. Once you have created a .png image save it to your computer and upload it at www.convertico.com, or you can simply upload the image to your own server and type the URL of the image at convertico.com, once you do that simply follow their instructions and you’ll have your .ico image.

.ico With a Computer Program

To create a .ico with a computer program simply save the image that you want with the last part as “.ico” like example.ico but in order to do that your computer program must support .ico files, there are many ways to check if your program supports them, and because there are so many I will not list them, one way to check if your program supports .ico is to create a file and save it as .ico and then check if the file works or not.

How to add a .ico to your site

Adding a .ico file to your website is fairly easy, all you have to do is edit your header and enter the following code:

(link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.thegermz.com/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /)

Change the Parentheses to brackets “>” and “<"And Obviously, you would change the thegermz dot com URL and add your own. I must note that the .ico file MUST be on the header or else it will not work.
